#99 Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The Machine
First Thoughts:
Well at least this time I have heard of the band. I think I've always been aware of Rage Against The Machine considering them mainly as a band for heavy rockers with tatoos and scary hair and as such have myself stayed away. The song I know best is 'Killing In The Name', which, although I had heard before, mostly came to my attention in the chirstmas number one battle of 2009. Anyway I have on occasion listened to it in my room when I've been feeling particularly teenage-angsty.
---
Wow I feel full of so much rage after listening to that. I feel like running around the room smashing up vases and thrashing the stuffing out of pillows. The music like gets into you, its more than just songs, its destruction and unjustness and well emotion. I totally get the album cover now. Songs that stood out include 'Bullet in the Head', "Settle For Nothing" and obviously "Killing In The Name" although similar themes and guitar rifts run through the whole album. I'll admit at times the vocals are painful to listen to, when the lead singer starts screaming it sounds like he is ripping out his throat or something. But apart from this occasional screaming it is surprising how listenable the whole album is and well how I actually kind of liked it. It is heavy and angry but it's not just scary rockers than can get this. Sometimes everyone just hates the world and this album would be a welcome friend to anyone whose feeling like that.
